High power magnifying glass only tells you how the dot look like, as view by eye and calculate the dot size is not stable, if can be different form people to people, does not tell you the percentage of the dot AM and FM. Also Flex3pro can give you the ability to view plate in 3D mode, you can see the shoulder of the dot, to confirm fail or pass. If you are user of digital plate, you can also make measurement of the LAM layer. make report and sent dot gain cure to CTP and CTF system.
