about variable data printing

anyone know any software that is free for doing variable data job?
how you doing this kind of job?
you all do in pdf file?
Hope that someone can give some idea at here.

Yes, there several programs that could do variable data job
This program use database from excel, access, etc.
I have the software but haven't use it at all
